Church Building for Refugees in India
For the Sri Lankan believers who reside in India, Toronto Harvest Missionary Church has built a church in 2007 where they can worship freely. These believers were saved through the Hosanna Ministries in India. Since they were Sri Lankan Tamils, the senior Pastor at that time, Pastor Yesana, kindly asked that we would build a place for them to worship. Since that day when we built it the Sri Lankan community of that church has had the opportunity to worship in their own building.
Helping Hands Mission among the Refugees in India
Let us glorify God together for your helping hands have made it possible to help the Sri Lankan refugees living in India. Sri Lanka was once known as paradise but after the war, everything within the country was destroyed and the people scattered to different parts of the world as refugees and we went to India to help those who had taken shelter there. When these people fled to India, they were given shelter in the midst of forests. They lived in small huts made out of leaves, and mud. Because of the small space, entire families were all living in the same hut together, sometimes even up to 10 people. The children living in these conditions didn’t have much of a future. The youths were into alcohol, drugs, and do some labour work to earn money. Many had died due to the spread of deadly diseases. These are people to whom we gave comfort, shared the loved of God, and preached the good news.
Giving food, clothing, and water
The people in one particular camp were struggling for water to use for their daily needs. They would have to go to a distance of 500-600 meters to draw the water and to carry it back all the way to the camp. The path they follow to draw the water did not have electricity and was dark. This is where most of the young women were raped. To provide water for these people, we built a pipeline that went about 250 meters deep into the ground. Through this pipeline, water became available right to where they live. Many accepted Jesus as their Lord and SaviourAs we visited each camp, we preached the gospel to the people as well as providing them food and clothing. The people were very happy to hear the gospel, and they accepted Jesus in their heart. By doing these little things a bridge has been built for them to taste the love of God, and to receive hope. In year 2012 Pastor Vincent went to Sugajeeva Geethangal Ministries to minister to the congregation and share the word of God.
